Virginia’s 28th House District

The Virginia House of Delegates has 100 members, each representing a separate district. District lines are drawn after the Federal Census every 10 years so that each Delegate represents the same number of Virginians.

Since 2001, the 28th District has included the City of Fredericksburg and part of Stafford County (mostly west of Interstate 95).

City of Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg, established in 1728, lies at the falls of the Rappahannock River, covering just over 11 square miles. Nearly 25,000 people call Fredericksburg home.

Stafford County

Stafford County, founded in 1664, covers 244 square miles. Over 125,000 people call Stafford home, including many at the Crossroads of the Marine Corps–Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The Fredericksburg Area

Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg, and nearby Spotsylvania County, to the south, work together in the Greater Fredericksburg Tourism Partnership. All three are part of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, along with neighboring Caroline and King George counties.

Under the auspices of the The George Washington Regional Commission, these local governments work together to address regional challenges. The Fredericksburg Alliance works on regional economic development initiatives.
